São Luís, Brazil

São Luís, founded on September 8, 1612, is the capital of the state of Maranhão. It has a population of one million, making São Luís the most populous county in the state, the 15th most populous municipality in Brazil. The economy of São Luís is grounded in the secondary and tertiary sectors. UNESCO granted the city of São Luís the title of World Cultural Heritage.
