Daegu Metropolitan City is located in an inland basin in the southern part of Gyeongsangnam-do Province, South Korea, surrounded by mountains. It is a metroplitan city with an area of 1,499.5 square kilometers and a population of approximately 2.36 million. Daegu is a major inland railway hub, the birthplace of the Samsung Group, and an important industrial city in South Korea. Its main industries include textiles, machinery, and medical equipment. The city has also been recognized by the United Nations as a City of Music and Creativity.
