Herstal is located in the city circle of Liège, along the Albert Canal. The area is about 23.54 square kilometers and the population is about 40,000. The main industries include weapons, motorcycle and automobile manufacturing. On May 21, 2018, the Qiaokou District signed a memorandum of friendship and cooperation with Herstal.
