Erdenet, Mongolia

Erdenet is the capital of Orkhon Province in Mongolia and the third largest city in the country. Located northwest of the capital, Ulaanbaatar, and in the northern part of Mongolia, it covers an area of 208 km2 and has a population of 110 thousand. The city is rich in mining resources. Erdenet Mining Corporation, located in the city, processes 32.5 million tons of ore annually, producing 583 thousand tons of copper concentrate and over 6 million tons of molybdenum concentrate each year. It is one of the largest copper and molybdenum mining and processing factories in Asia. In addition, industries such as manufacturing, livestock, and tourism in Erdenet are also rapidly developing.
