Soroca is located on the right bank of the Nistria River in northeastern Moldova with a Ukrainian city of Janpol on the opposite bank. It covers an area of about 13 square kilometers and has  a population of about 35,000 . The city is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Moldova. The main industries in Soroka are garment processing, dairy products, food processing and industrial metal processing.
