A special freight train carrying 50 containers of photovoltaic modules which were produced in Hubei left Wuhan, for Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan, on May 23, 2024.
It will travel about 5,200 kilometers in 10 days to arrive at its destination in Uzbekistan, cutting the comprehensive logistics costs by 20 percent compared with traditional transportation.
Hubei launched first freight train service to Central Asia in 2014. And in past ten years, special freight train services for transporting cotton yarns and barleys had been operated continually to promote trade between Hubei and Central Asia countries.
So far, Wuhan has seen 96 freight train trips made to Central Asian countries, which totally transported twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers of goods with a value of more than 1.4 billion yuan. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
