Daejeon Metropolitan City, located in central South Korea, is a metropolitan city with an area of 539 square kilometers and a population of about 1.5 million. It is home to renowned universities such as the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and more than 30 national research institutes, forming an innovation-driven industrial system centered on the Daedeok Innopolis. Having successfully hosted the 1993 World Expo, Daejeon is known as “the engine of South Korea’s scientific and technological development” and “the science and technology capital of South Korea.”
