Suwon City, the capital of Gyeonggi-do Province, is an important central city in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, covering about 121 square kilometers with a population of approximately 1.2 million. Suwon is home to the global headquarters of Samsung Electronics and serves as one of South Korea’s core bases for the semiconductor and high-tech industries. The city’s fortress, Hwaseong, has been designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
