Victoria, Seychelles

Victoria is a port city located in the northeast corner of Mahé. With a population of about 30,000, it is the smallest capital in Africa. The city is not only an important transit point for international shipping, but also an important fishing port, as well as a distribution center for coconut, cinnamon, vanilla and cured fish. There are also many small factories such as coconut oil, spice processing, tea making, and rice milling. The international airport, completed in 1971, is an important aviation hub in the Indian Ocean.
