Galati, Romania

Galati is located at the north bank of Danube River in southeast Romania. As the capital of Galati County, the city has an area of 246 square kilometers and a population of approximately 290,000. Its main industries include metallurgy, ship-building, food processing, textile, and machine manufacturing. The city has the country’s largest steel company and ship-building yard. Its major agricultural products include wheat, maize, sunflower, and vegetables. Galati is an important economic center and has the second largest port in Romania.
