Tacoma, a port city in Washington State, is the third largest city in the state, with a population of 220,000 and an area of 162 square kilometers. It is a center for maritime, land and air transportation and agricultural and forestry products distributionand processing. Known as the "capital of the American lumber industry", the Port of Tacoma and Seattle have formed an alliance, constituting the third largest port in the United States.
