Dunkirk, French

Dunkirk is located in the north-eastern part of France, Calais region, bordering  UK and Belgium. It has an area of 43.89 square kilometers and a population of about 88,000. The city is one of France's top three port cities, with major industries including steel, food processing, oil refining, shipbuilding and chemicals. The city is famous for the Battle of Dunkirk, which took place here during World War II, and the Great Retreat of Dunkirk by British and French troops.
