Entebbe is located in southern Uganda, with an area of 56 km² and a population of about 100,000. The city had been the capital of Uganda prior to the country’s independence in 1962. Entebbe serves as Uganda’s aviation hub and it has Uganda’s only international airport. Therefore, it is known as the country’s gateway to the outside world. It is also a tourist destination, trade center, and distributing center of coffee, cotton and other agricultural products in Uganda.
