2025 Wuhan International Sister Cities Exchange Week kicks off

The launching ceremony of 2025 Wuhan International Sister Cities Exchange Week and Wuhan International Sister Cities Promotion Conference on Friendly Cooperation and Exchanges was held in Wuhan, Hubei’s capital city, on April 22, bringing together representatives from sister cities across 12 countries to explore new cooperation opportunities.

Since 1979, Wuhan has established sister-city relationship with 125 cities across 64 countries, and foster deep exchanges and cooperation with them in economy, trade, science, education, culture and healthcare.

Wuhan currently ranks first among central Chinese cities in terms of foreign investment. It has seen investment from 310 world’s top 500 companies and has been home to companies from over 130 countries and regions.

Owing to its advantageous geographic location, the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is developing into an air hub for international passenger traffic. It mainly expands long-haul routes to Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa. Meanwhile, the Ezhou Huahu Airport serves as an international cargo hub, with operation of 38 international and regional routes. The new energy vehicles, photovoltaics and lithium batteries, which are produced in Wuhan, can be transported to many countries via the China-Europe freight trains, which operates more than 1,000 trips annually.

In addition, Wuhan has built over 100 international communities, schools and industrial parks.

During the five-day exchange week, representatives of the international sister cities will visit the Wuhan Institute of Industrial Innovation and Development, the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, Jianghan Road and the East Lake Greenway.
