On May 13 local time, a delegation from Wuhan visited Fiji. Chen Guangju, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Wuhan Municipal People's Congress, and Tevita Boseiwaqa, Chairman and Special Administrator of the Suva City Council, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Wuhan, the People’s Republic of China and the City of Suva, the Republic of Fiji on Establishment of a Friendly Exchange City Relationship. This means that the two cities officially became friendly exchange cities, making Suva the 96th international friendly exchange city of Wuhan and the third of its kind in Oceania.
The two sides will further deepen friendly relations, enhance friendship and mutual trust, and expand exchanges and cooperation in such areas as trade, agriculture, culture and education in pursuit of common prosperity and development. This new relationship will surely help serve the Global South community with a shared future and the Belt and Road Initiative.
