Betong, known as the Town in the Mist, is located in southern Thailand and is an important town on the border with Malaysia. Covering an area of 78 square kilometers, it has a population of approximately 150,000. The main industries in Betong include tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing. About 40% of Betong's residents are of Chinese descent, making it one of the cities with the highest concentration of Chinese people in Thailand. With a vibrant Chinese cultural atmosphere, it hosts Thailand's largest Chinese primary school, as well as the Confucius Institute of Betong Municipality.
