Lille is a major city in the North of France. As the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region, it has an area of 34.83 square kilometers, and about 1 million people scattered in its downtown area and surrounding satellite towns. It is also the largest railway transportation hub in the North of France, and one of the principal industrial, research and educational centers in the country.
