Izmir, Turkey

Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey and the hometown of Homer, the great ancient Greek poet, with an area of 919 km2 and a population of about 3 million. It is one of Turkey’s most important industrial, commercial, foreign trade and shipping centers. It’s also the second largest city after Istanbul in agricultural and industrial production value. Moreover, as a tourist destination and a military fortress, it’s rich in history and culture.
